The aim of the Department of Soil Science and Plant Nutrition at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University, Faculty of Agriculture is to conduct up-to-date research focused on solving regional problems related to soil and plant production, to educate Agricultural Engineers who are experts in their field and equipped with contemporary knowledge, and—alongside its educational activities—to carry out research aimed at identifying key problems of regional agriculture and proposing feasible solutions.
To conduct research aimed at the protection, improvement, and sustainable use of soil–water resources and the natural environment, to increase plant production and address productivity-related challenges; to contribute to the development of new knowledge and products within the framework of sustainable principles in soil management and plant nutrition; to serve soil and fertilizer management practices; to facilitate the flow of beneficial knowledge to our country through international collaborations and to encourage academic staff exchange; to organize socially beneficial projects and activities; to create financial resources for undergraduate and graduate students through national and international project funding; to strengthen the social ties among our academic divisions; and to take part in multidisciplinary studies related to agriculture, environment, and food.
Education: To educate graduates who prioritize the sustainable use of nature and the environment of the region they serve, and who are preferable at both national and international levels.
Research: To conduct research capable of investigating the diversity of national and regional soils, determining their potential, advancing plant nutrition and management at a global level, and contributing to zero-waste management practices.
Service: To enhance the quality and quantity of plant production and soil health by utilizing fundamental soil knowledge and generating all necessary data for healthy plant production, and to contribute to the future of agricultural production through social responsibility projects.
