Graduation from secondary education.
The process of recognition of prior learning in Turkish higher education institutions is still at an early stage. Therefore, the recognition of prior education has not yet been fully implemented in all programs at Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University. However, exemption examinations are held at the beginning of each academic year for compulsory foreign language courses included in departmental curricula. Students who have completed the learning outcomes of these courses through self-study or other means are eligible to take these examinations. Students who successfully pass the exemption exam are exempted from the relevant course in the curriculum.

Candidates who successfully complete undergraduate education may enroll in graduate programs (master’s and doctoral) provided that they obtain a valid score from the ALES examination and have sufficient proficiency in English.
At least one midterm examination is administered each semester. In addition to midterms, projects and assignments with specified dates are given at the beginning of each semester. At the end of each semester, students are required to take the final examination. The criteria (midterm exams, projects, assignments, final exam) and their contribution to the final grade are clearly stated in the course syllabus distributed and/or published on the website at the beginning of the semester. Final examinations are held on dates, times, and locations determined and announced by the university in accordance with the academic calendar. The final course grade is determined by the course instructor based on midterm exams, projects, assignments, and the final exam.
At Namık Kemal University, the passing grade is 60 out of 100. However, a minimum score of 50 is required in the final or resit examination. Examinations are evaluated out of 100 points. The semester/year-end grade of a course is calculated as 30% of the arithmetic mean of midterm exam(s) and 70% of the final or resit exam score. Alternatively, with the decision of the relevant faculty/school board and announcement at the beginning of the semester, the contribution of midterms may range between 30% and 50%, and the final or resit exam between 70% and 50%, provided that the total equals 100%. If the first digit after the decimal point is less than five, the grade is rounded down; if it is five or greater, it is rounded up.
Semester-end and resit grades are submitted to the Student Affairs Office together with the evaluation criteria and announced through the student information system.
